Address:
Marlboro College Graduate Center

Led by Phil Steckler and Tammy Richards of Country Business, Inc. and Don Jamison of the Vermont Employee Ownership Center, this free seminar will cover the four most common ownership exit paths: sale to an outside buyer, to family, to managers, and to the broader group of employees.  Joining us for this edition of the seminar for a live story will be Dan Rosenberg, founder and General Manager of Greenfield MA-based Real Pickles, who will describe that company’s sale to employees using the worker cooperative structure.  The seminar is open to business owners and key managers and, while it is free, registration is required.

Attention all business owners: if you plan to retire, or think you might someday want to change gears in your life, you will eventually be faced with the task of selling or transferring ownership of your business. The information in this workshop is invaluable to any business owner — no matter what age you are, or what stage of its story your business is in!
The workshop will be presented by Philip Steckler of Country Business, Inc. (CBI). CBI is the leading business brokerage and merger & acquisition firm in Northern New England. The firm has managed the sales of over 1,200 businesses since 1976, with sale prices ranging from a few hundred thousand dollars to $30 million, including the following local businesses: Quabbin Industries, New England Wetland Plants, Danco Modern, Bart’s Ice Cream and Graphic Printing.
Phil will introduce business owners to the following topics: maximizing the value of a business, properly pricing and positioning a business for sale, attracting qualified buyers, minimizing taxes, and maintaining confidentiality. Additional topics covered will include: analyzing a business’ strengths and weaknesses, understanding the marketplace, valuing a business and properly setting the purchase price and terms, and more.

This will be an interactive workshop, and questions and discussion will be welcome. Please share this information with your friends, colleagues and business partners. We hope to see you there!
