John Stimets has been the lead intermediary in the Burlington office since 1991. He has managed the sale of businesses in every major industrial category. John’s Accounting and Business Management degree from the University of Vermont and his 20 years experience as a commercial lender for Vermont Banks helps him identify critical value drivers for each business represented. John’s former ownership of his own business provides a unique perspective as to the emotional and transfer issues that each client and buyer undergoes. John’s expertise in finance, sales, negotiation and management assures his clients of positive results when he is retained to manage the transfer of their business. Additionally, a personal devotion to his clients and a desire to work hard on their behalf leaves the clients knowing that they have retained an industry leader and expert. John is a former member of the IBBA (International Business Brokers Association).

Reid WilliamsReid Williams
Burlington, Vermont

Having successfully founded, managed, and sold a 20 million dollar business in downtown Boston, Reid brings to CBI a wealth of business and entrepreneurial experience. Subsequent to the sale of that business, he bought a struggling, and undercapitalized business which he successfully turned around, grew and sold within three years. His background also includes a sales role and Vice-President position, managing one of the largest Office Furniture Dealerships in the country, at the time.
These critical business experiences give him a true empathy for what the sellers of the businesses go through when they consider selling their business. He has a great appreciation for the personal and confidential aspects of such a transaction and his guidance through the process is invaluable to the seller. It’s all about “Win-Win” for the parties involved.
Reid holds an engineering degree from Lafayette College and has an extensive working knowledge of Process engineering and the Construction Trade.
He lived and worked in Vermont in the 1970’s, prior to moving to Boston in 1978. He is currently residing with his wife in Stowe, and is becoming involved with The Rotary and the Local Chamber of Commerce. He is an avid skier and golfer and has a love and an appreciation for Vermont. He also brings with him an extensive network to find and attract business buyers to our State.

Stefan BachofenStefan Bachofen

Stefan manages business acquisitions and provides independent valuations for privately held businesses. Previously, Stefan spent three years as General Manager of Vermont’s largest specialty food and wine retailer – a family business – where he introduced an e-commerce website and social media strategy, and directed all operations, marketing, and human resources activities. Prior to his General Management role, Stefan spent several years as a Hotel Assistant Manager at Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in Miami. Additionally, Stefan spent one year as an Educator in Istanbul, Turkey, teaching English to professionals and corporations. He was raised in a family-owned bed and breakfast in Southern Vermont, and began learning the business when he was tall enough to serve guests coffee.
Stefan is a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA), a designation accepted by the IRS for business valuations. Stefan performs business valuations for estate tax purposes, gifts, acquisitions, SBA loans, and financial planning. He is a member of the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA), member of the New England Business Brokerage Association (NEBBA), and active in the International Business Brokerage Association (IBBA). He is also a Licensed Real Estate agent in Vermont. His expertise in sales and marketing, management, financial analysis, and communication skills allows him to achieve positive results for his clients, and overcome challenges to get deals done. Stefan’s favorite part of his profession is assisting accomplished owners transition into a new life chapter, and enabling entrepreneurs for an exciting professional future.

Ron DoveRon Dove

Ron has more than twenty-five years of experience in the manufacturing, financial services, and commercial real estate space with particular emphasis in the areas of treasury, M&A , and commercial real estate asset management . Ron has been involved in the negotiating and securing of corporate debt, acted as VP Operations for the largest lending group of a commercial finance company and managed a multi-million dollar portfolio of distressed commercial real estate assets. During his tenure at a Fortune 1000 company, he was involved in the acquisition of a rail leasing business, negotiated the sale of a portfolio of aircraft loans and the sale of two operating units. He holds a B.A. in Economics from Dartmouth College, conducted post graduate MBA studies at McGill University and has participated in several senior level seminars related to his areas of expertise.
